By me for me. This blog is about whatever resonates with me at the moment. It started as an outlet and showcase for my leadership and AI ideas but over time I started to only care about it as art. For me art is about evoking an emotion. I feel an emotion and I write to heighten, deepen and memorialize that emotion so I can understand it, digest it and more easily return to it any time I choose.
So, why publish it at all if it’s only for me? Why not just a journal without having to polish it? Why risk that someone might not like it, or even be offended by something? In a world where people are looking for reasons to reject, why give them one?
Because the opposite of rejection is acceptance. This blog is a beacon and filter. Calling to any like minded people who resonate with me and repelling those who don’t.
If it resonates with you, let me know. send me a note in the comments or reach out. I’d love to hear from you. You can send me a note here: https://lowryonleadership.com/contact-me/
AI:
A lawyer friend of mine said “It’s clearly malpractice to use AI to write your legal briefs, but it’s so helpful that it’s arguably malpractice to NOT use AI to find sources, propose new legal theories and review your work.”.
I feel the same way about AI in writing. It helps me brainstorm, refine ideas, find weaknesses in my work, help with wording and, above all, grammar check! But everything here is my ideas, written by me. The AI is a piano. A Steinway doesn’t play a concerto, the person on the keys does.
Original About:
Over the years I’ve led a lot of teams and seen a lot of leadership of all sorts. I’ve taken notes and come up with theories of what works and why, but these were always for myself, to make me a better leader. These principles have helped me juice the gains and ease the losses. I never dared share them because there were so many strong personalities with differing opinions who dismissed my thoughts.
That all changed as I was watching an amazing leadership speaker. Their delivery was crisp, their message catchy and actionable, really an excellent talk. However, knowing this manager personally, it was clear to me that their leadership style didn’t quite match the excellence of their presentation.
This led me to say “If they can talk about this stuff and have people listen to them, so can I”. And so here I am. I know someone somewhere will get a nugget of gold out of it.
AI (Note: This is a bit outdated. But I left it for historical reasons)
This blog is about AI, Life and Leadership, because those are three things I have an absolute passion for.
You will quickly notice that all of my pictures are AI from the Dall-E 2 model. I love its captivating pictures. I will usually feed it the blog post and ask it to give me a few pictures to choose from.
One place I don’t use much AI is in the writing. This isn’t for lack of trying, it’s just that I don’t find AI writes in my style. What I have to say is as much about how it’s said as what’s said. I might ask AI for some thoughts on rewording a tricky sentence, but almost all of this prose was written by me.
